  • Do you enjoy working with groups of very young children?
  • Are you an excellent observer and communicator?
  • Do you want to guide and affirm parents as their children’s first and most important teacher?
  • Do you have music in your background (i.e. music instruction, choral experience, play an instrument, music degree, teaching experience)?
  • Do you believe that music can help children develop to their full potential?

If you answered yes to these questions, becoming a Kindermusik educator may be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for!

Kindermusik educators should exhibit and embrace the following abilities, characteristics and commitments:

Musical Strengths:

  • Ability to learn and then sing on pitch, short songs of various styles without musical accompaniment.  While many of the songs in Kindermusik’s curricula repertoire are familiar (25%), some are new but easy to learn (55%), and a small portion are more challenging with complex melodies (20%).
  • Ability to sing in the appropriate range and with a light, high voice quality suitable for young children.
  • Ability to maintain a steady beat and move comfortably to music.

Teaching Skills:

  • Embrace a passion and respect for the child, newborn through seven years.
  • Exhibit a commitment to the development of the whole child (physical, social, emotional and cognitive) through music.
  • Maintain an energy level sufficient for leading 45- to 60-minute classes, often one after another.  You will move, sing, interact, play, lead and follow!
  • Communicate with and effectively interact with parents and other adults who are important to the life and development of the child.
